The name, meaning ‘track’ in Italian, was chosen specifically to testify to Ferrari’s unparalleled heritage in motor sports. Aerodynamic demands guided the work of the Ferrari Design Centre team.
The Ferraris 488's interior is also pretty much reminiscent of the 458. This time, the control pods are equally placed on both sides of the instrument binnacle. These pods also serve as the car's infotainment system. Most of the car's functions are controlled here, which feels natural since your controls are very much next to your fingers. Controls on the center tunnel will make you think of the LaFerrari. This is a simpler, more modern set up, less convoluted and easier to navigate. The Ferrari 488 reminds us so much of the old 458, but much faster. At its heart is a 3.9-liter bi-turbo V8 engine, which goes full throttle in a whopping .8 seconds after you step on the firewall. For a turbocharged engine, this is quite impressive, especially when you realize this is just a tenth of a second behind the 458, which has a non-turbocharged engine. The powertrain also has the distinction of being bestowed as the International Engine of the Year in 2017. It's one of the best turbocharged gasoline engines currently in production. Acceleration is astoundingly fast: 0-200km/h in 8.3 seconds.
